Choosing a nursing home for your loved one is a very difficult decision and should be approached with careful thought.  We encourage family members to some research to determine the nursing home that best meets the resident’s needs.

All admissions to nursing homes in Nova Scotia are facilitated through the Department of Health Single Entry Access. For an application, please contact the Single Entry Access at 1-800-225-7225.  A Care Coordinator will visit your home and conduct a full assessment. You will be asked to provide your preferred home and alternative choices at this assessment. The waiting lists for Long Term Care homes are managed by the Department of Health. The wait can be up to several months.
